The Glasgow Swing Dance Society was founded in 2006 by Helen Tennent, an enthusiast of swing music and dance. Helen has trained under World and European champions in ’Lindy Hop’ - the grandfather of all jive and rock & roll.
We are now a growing group of dance enthusiasts! Our priority is to have fun, enjoy the music and friendly atmosphere our classes have.
We have resident dance tutors, but also invite various professional instructors in specialised styles of dancing usually on a monthly basis to keep us on our toes!
Lindy Hop is a fun, social, partner dance, usually danced to the Big Band music of the Swing Era. It’s best to explain by doing:
